Labor Day has come and gone. The kids are back in school. Football is back on television,
pumpkin everything is starting to appear, and our attention is slowly shifting toward fall.

But outside, Your landscape isn't quite ready to call it a season.

September may be one of the most overlooked months of the year when it comes to our lawns and landscapes. After everything Bucks County experienced this summer—from stretches of extreme heat and humidity to periods of heavy rainfall—September can provide something we haven't had much of lately...

A Second Wind...

During the hottest parts of summer, lawns, plants, trees, and shrubs can slow their growth as they deal with heat and environmental stress. It's nature's way of conserving energy until conditions become a little more favorable. Then September arrives. The days gradually become shorter, the nights cooler, and the intensity of the summer sun begins to ease. Those subtle changes can give a tired landscape an opportunity to recover and, in some cases, almost seem to come back to life. It's a reminder that the growing season doesn't end simply because summer vacation does.

Remember August's Report Card?

Last month, we called August "Nature's Report Card"—an opportunity to look around your property after two-thirds of summer and see how everything handled the heat, humidity, rain,
and changing conditions. September gives us the next chapter. Areas that struggled earlier in
the summer may begin showing signs of recovery. Other areas may continue telling you that something needs attention. Either way, what happens now can provide valuable information about the overall health of your landscape. August gave us the grade. September gives us a
chance to improve it.

Don't Let the Calendar Fool You.

There's a funny thing that happens after Labor Day. We start thinking fall even when Mother
Nature isn't necessarily cooperating. September in Bucks County can still deliver plenty of
sunshine and warm afternoons, while cooler mornings and evenings begin reminding us what's ahead. For your landscape, however, this isn't simply the end of one season and the beginning of another. It's a transition period—and an important one. Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply pay attention. Notice what's bouncing back. Notice what's thriving. Notice what never fully recovered from summer. Those observations can tell you a lot about your property and help
guide decisions down the road.

Maybe September Deserves a Little
More Credit.

We spend spring waiting for everything to come alive. We spend summer trying to keep
everything looking its best. And before we know it, we're looking ahead to fall.

Somewhere in between, September gets forgotten. But with comfortable temperatures, cooler nights, and landscapes getting a break from the extremes of summer, this may actually be one of the best times of the year to step outside and enjoy everything you've worked to maintain.

So don't rush the season, Fall will get here soon enough... For now, give September—and your landscape—the attention they deserve.
