Common Regrets From
Home Owners, After the Fact...

Happy New Year!!!

We hope everyone had a great Holiday Season, and hopefully "Santa" was good to you and your family, and also, we hope 2026 is off to a great start for you! This month (and year) we wanted to start off with something that we haven't posted about before, but is extremely important regarding Common Regrets from Home Owners with their Irrigation Systems, but only after
the fact... And it's most likely not what you're thinking... :)

Here we go!

We talk to homeowners every day — and interestingly enough, many of the same comments come up after an irrigation system has been installed or running for years.

Most regrets aren’t about having a system… they’re about small decisions that didn’t seem important at the time, but ended up costing more later on.

Here are a few of the most common ones we hear.

"I wish I upgraded the controller sooner.”

Older controllers get the job done — but they lack flexibility. Homeowners often realize too
late that modern controllers offer easier scheduling, better control, and fewer headaches.

“I didn’t realize one zone controlled half my yard.”

Poor zoning can lead to overwatered areas, dry spots, and constant adjustments. Many homeowners assume this is “just how systems work” — until they learn it doesn’t have to be.

“I thought uneven coverage was normal.”

It’s not. Misaligned heads, outdated components, or poor layout often go unnoticed for years, slowly impacting lawn health and performance.

“I never questioned how the system was designed.”

This one’s big — especially for homeowners who inherited their irrigation system.
Just because it’s there doesn’t mean it was designed properly for your landscape.

“I waited too long to have it checked.”

Small issues tend to stay small only if they’re addressed early.
Delaying inspections or adjustments often leads to larger, more expensive repairs
down the road.

The Good News...

Most of these regrets are completely avoidable with the right guidance and a second set of professional eyes. A simple evaluation can uncover opportunities to improve performance, comfort, and long-term reliability. At CB Irrigation Inc., we help Bucks County homeowners understand their systems — not just maintain them. Whether your system is brand new or something you inherited years ago, knowing what you have makes all the difference!
